About the Project

Happy Mind is a gamified mobile app designed to support emotional well-being through short, science-based exercises. The product was created in collaboration with positive psychology expert Dr. Sherif Arafa. It helps users focus on positive cues and build everyday well-being habits through simple interactive sessions. The app uses psychological techniques such as attentional bias modification and the mere exposure effect in a format that feels approachable and easy to repeat. TechMagic designed and developed the product for iOS and Android, using gamification, custom 2D visuals, and a calm user experience to support mood, motivation, and emotional resilience.

Project Challenges

001

Making psychology practical in-app

The main challenge was to build a product around positive psychology methods that people could use on their own, without support from a specialist. Research-based techniques needed to feel clear, intuitive, and engaging in a mobile format. At the same time, the app had to stay grounded in science while remaining accessible to a broad audience with no academic background.

002

Keeping users engaged without pressure

Daily well-being products often struggle with retention. If the experience feels repetitive, demanding, or overly instructional, users stop returning. The product needed to encourage consistency through light interaction, short sessions, and motivating feedback, without making the experience feel heavy or gamified for its own sake.

003

Designing a calm, supportive experience

Because the app focuses on emotional well-being, the experience had to feel supportive from the first interaction. Every detail mattered, including pacing, visual tone, copy, and motion. The challenge was to create an interface that felt warm and rewarding without becoming distracting or overstimulating.

004

Ensuring smooth cross-platform performance

The app relied on smooth animations, interactive exercises, and a polished visual style. That required consistent performance on both iOS and Android. The team needed a technical approach that would support rich visuals, stable interactions, and efficient delivery across both platforms.

Project Objective

The objective was to build a mobile app that makes positive psychology practices part of everyday routines through short, engaging sessions. The solution needed to: • Encourage regular practice of positive attention habits • Present psychological exercises through simple gamified interactions • Create a welcoming and motivating user experience • Support daily engagement with reminders and progress tracking • Provide a visually warm and calming interface suited for repeated use The final product also needed to stay scientifically grounded while remaining accessible to a wide audience.

Gamified attention training

TechMagic developed interactive exercises that train users to focus on positive visual cues. These exercises are based on attentional bias modification techniques used in psychological research. The gameplay format helps users practice consistently while keeping the experience light and approachable.

Daily micro-sessions for habit formation

The app delivers short guided sessions that take only a few minutes to complete. This lowers the barrier to daily use and helps users build positive habits gradually, without feeling overwhelmed.

Behavioral nudges and progress tracking

We implemented reminders, progress indicators, and reward mechanics that support consistency over time. These elements encourage repeat use while keeping the tone gentle and pressure-free.

iOS and Android mobile delivery

TechMagic developed the application for iOS and Android using Unity. This allowed us to build one consistent product with smooth animations and interactive visual behavior across both platforms. Our team also handled testing and app store publishing.

Custom 2D visual system

Our design team created a full visual language built around warm illustrations, soft shapes, and subtle animation. The art direction supports the emotional tone of the product and helps make the experience feel familiar and welcoming.

Calm and accessible UX

The interface was designed for clarity and ease of use. Large touch targets, short flows, and friendly microcopy make the app easy to navigate. Motion and feedback were used carefully to make the experience feel polished without becoming distracting.

Services Provided for Happy Mind

We developed the application for both iOS and Android, ensuring consistent behavior, performance, and usability across platforms. This helped the client release one cohesive product for a broader audience. We also paid close attention to stable performance and careful handling of user data, which is especially important in digital health and wellness applications.

TechMagic structured the product around gamified interaction principles that encourage regular engagement. We designed progress cues, rewards, and short-session mechanics that support habit formation in a natural way. The goal was to keep users motivated without creating pressure or competition.

TechMagic designed a mobile experience that feels calm, friendly, and easy to use. We focused on clear flows, readable screens, and interaction patterns suited to short daily sessions. Because the product belongs to the health and wellness space, clarity and usability were essential for building trust and encouraging consistent use.

Our team created the product’s 2D visual system, including illustrations, interface assets, and motion principles. The visual direction established a warm and recognizable identity that supports the app’s emotional tone. It also helped make the experience feel approachable and comfortable for repeated use.

Our team tested the app to ensure stable performance, smooth interactions, and a polished user experience. We reviewed functional behavior, visual consistency across devices, and data-related flows. This helped prepare the product for release with strong reliability and user trust.

TechMagic supported the full delivery cycle and helped shape the idea into a finished mobile app ready for public use. Our work included planning, coordination, final improvements, and store submission. This gave the client one team that could move the product forward with clarity and consistency.
